Congregational News
August Webcast Updates
Thank you to all who were able to join the Leadership Webcast last night. We were happy to share so much information with you. The recording has been edited to preserve as much as Sr. Gemma's reflection as possible before we experienced technical issues. Click here to view.
During last night’s webcast, Sr. Anne Lythgoe referred to a video recap of the recent LCWR Conference. Click here to watch that video.
Also, Sisters Gemma Doll and Susan Leslie spoke about our congregation’s engagement with Land Justice Futures (LJF), formerly known as the Nuns & Nones Land Justice Project. In preparation for our daylong Zoom Formation and Information session with the LJF team scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024, we have been asked to view three videos, each approximately 1 hour in length. The link for each video will be accompanied by a link for related printed material. We encourage you to consider viewing these videos, and discussing the content and materials with others, if possible. The link for the first video is: Introduction to Land Justice.
Corona Virus Vaccine Update
As you may have seen in the news, the FDA has approved new corona virus vaccines that are tailored for the new virus variants. These are likely the strains of the virus that so many of us have suffered with recently.
Please use this good news as a reminder to get your vaccine and keep yourself and those around you safe!
Death of a Sister
The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) mourns the death of former LCWR President Theresa Kane, RSM, who passed away yesterday. She was the recipient of LCWR's Outstanding Leadership Award in 2004. Please go here to read more about her exceptional life.
Prayer Requests
- Sr. Theresa Fox (St. Catharine, KY, theresa.fox@oppeace.org) requests continued prayer for her brother Jim. She is thankful for prayer received, saying his heart valve replacement procedure went well and he can breathe without difficulty, but recuperation is expected to be long because of his loss of weight.
- Sr. June Fitzgerald, (New Haven, CT, june.fitzgerald@oppeace.org) requests prayer for residents of Rosette Village, a tiny home neighborhood at the Amistad Catholic Worker House. The city approved electrical service to the residents six months ago but has now reversed their decision. Please pray for the legal team and for the city officials that they can come to an agreement and electricity will be restored
- Sr. Mai-dung Nguyen (Great Bend, KS, mai-dung.nguyen@oppeace.org) requests prayer for her nephew, Louis Nguyen, a ten-year-old who has been in the hospital for a week with a serious abdominal infection.
Updates/Notes of Gratitude
- Sr. Renee Dreiling (Great Bend, KS, renee.dreiling@heartlandspirituality.org) sends a note of thanks on behalf of the family dealing with forest fires and road closures. The hope is the latest fire will be contained soon and the highway will reopen today. Judy and Bart Hain are grateful for your prayer.
