Peace & Justice Update

Remembering Missionaries in Haiti
During this Dominican Month of Peace, please keep in mind the Dominican Family in Haiti. They work under very difficult circumstances and appreciate our support and prayer. During December, we will be sharing some short notes from the Sisters who minister there.

The first writing is from Prioress Sr. Marie Marthe Placius:
Weekdays we have Mass at 5.50 am and Laude, we have breakfast, and I go to work, a 15-minute walk. When I arrive, I greet the various staff and distribute the working materials for the clinic.
In the kitchen, I make sure that the ingredients are available, to be able to provide 28 employees one hot dish a day. Afterwards, I go out to greet the patients, give short instructions on disease prevention and educate the mothers on baby care.

I help with nursing duties as needed and do most of the administrative work. We also try and help children suffering from malnutrition with a program that focuses on their needs.
Currently, people are experiencing forced confinement due to violence and insecurity. Access to food is difficult because transport is blocked.
