New Program: Effective Advocacy 2025
From the very beginnings of our order, Dominicans have responded to the needs of the time with prayer, preaching and action.
As we look about our world today, we see the need for action in the form of focused advocacy to preach our Christian values, to assist our neighbors, and to be more active citizens. Justice Promoter Sr. Gemma Doll would like to help our Sisters and Associates advocate in the most effective way possible, creating a chorus of support for our Gospel message.
Over the coming weeks, we will be publishing a series of tips to help you reach the right people with our message of peace. We’re calling this program “Effective Advocacy 2025,” and we hope that you find it useful.
Sr. Gemma will also send talking points related to current issues to help reinforce our Gospel message.
Who Should I Talk To?
-Click here to find Your Members in the U.S. Congress | Congress.gov | Library of Congress.
Identify your members of Congress and the best way to contact them. Write down the email and phone number in a place that you can use when it’s time to contact them.
-You can click My Reps (a map) and type it to your address in the space provided. It helps to become familiar with your local elected public servants and become familiar with their roles and responsibilities.
Film for Consideration
A series offered by the Dominican Friars provides an opportunity to view a film on loving those with diverse sexual orientation. It could be a resource to augment your community study this year.
Fr. Colin Blanchford from Knoxville is the presenter. See the flyer here for more information.

Snow Day!
Residents and staff at Sansbury Care Center took full advantage of Tuesday's snow.
While residents watched from the warm corridor with hot chocolate in hand, fun-loving staff members built a snow man and woman, threw a few snowballs and did their best to create snow angels.

TET Celebration in Kentucky
The St. Catharine Motherhouse hosted a memorable Tet Celebration, commemorating the Vietnamese New Year, last Saturday.
The day began with the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Tom Clark. Following Mass, everyone gathered in the dining room to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
Eggrolls made by Sr. Nang Nguyen and other delicious food and cake prepared by the kitchen staff were enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Sr. Charlene Moser offered a blessing before the meal. Here is an excerpt:
-- Gracious God, you have given us this day of TET to celebrate with our sisters and brothers of Vietnamese decent the lunar year of the Wood Snake.
Because you created the snake with the ability to shed its skin as it grows, you remind us of the renewal, new beginnings, and transformation that you offer us humans as we grow to become the people you call us to be--
