Peace & Justice Update
Actions to Take Now
Justice Promoter Sr. Gemma Doll urges those concerned about a bill that seeks to add barriers to the voter registration process to write or call your government representative.
The idea is to oppose SAVE ACT, H.B. 22 by giving an account of a personal experience.
Key points to consider:
-The bill would require a valid passport or certified copy of a birth certificate to register to vote and millions of citizens do not have a valid passport and do not have access to a certified birth certificate.
- The bill would disproportionately impact younger and older citizens, those with lower incomes and lower educational levels.
Here is a tool to help you locate representatives in Congress.
