NETWORK, the lobby for Catholic social justice, is conducting a July 16 webinar that should be of interest to many.
The webinar will focus on the work that still needs to be done to protect the vulnerable after Congress' acceptance of the budget reconciliation bill.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
In recognition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a virtual Human Trafficking 101 presentation is being offered Wednesday, July 30.
The session will cover the basics of human trafficking, warning signs to look for, and how to engage with individuals respectfully and safely.

Office News
Battery Care "101"
Do you have any appliances that require batteries? These could be remotes for your TV, VCR or blu-ray players, radios, clocks, or flashlights.
If you don’t use these items often, it’s important you store them WITHOUT their batteries. Batteries left in a remote, a radio, a flashlight or other device will corrode if not used regularly. This corrosion will destroy the device. Please remove the batteries and store with the device.
A flashlight or other item that needs to be ready in an emergency can be stored with the batteries in it, but it’s important to turn the device on for about 5 minutes once a month to keep the batteries from corroding.
Following these guidelines will help you keep your battery-powered devices in good working order.

Great Bend Girls Only Event
Heartland Center for Spirituality hosted a "Girls Night Out" for the Great Bend and surrounding communities and it turned out to be just the right thing at the right time.
Almost 100 people showed up to socialize, play games and enjoy summer refreshments with some new and old friends.
The first-time event was so popular that participants requested another one they could put on the calendar.

Vocation Event
This Week's Retreat
Sitting at the Well with Jesus is the theme for a Zoom and See Discernment retreat hosted by the Vocations team this Saturday, July 19th.
Those involved ask Sisters and Associates to pray for everyone taking part in this day, especially that our loving God will touch the hearts of the near dozen women participating as they seek to discern God’s will in their lives.
Discerners will have an opportunity to engage in conversation with other discerning women and our Sisters, who will share and answer questions about religious life, as well as helpful tools for discernment.
An Honor for Our Sister
The GCCC Endowment Association is proud to announce the establishment of the Sister Janice Thome Legacy Scholarship, created to support underserved students pursuing careers in education, healthcare, and emergency response.
This new scholarship honors the lifelong service of Sister Janice Thome, OP who has dedicated her life to advocacy, compassion, and community impact.
Death of Sister
Today we remember Sr. Geraldine Eakes, OP. She was a Sister who led by example and was loved by many.

- Former Shepherd's Corner Advisory Council Member and Donor, John M. Seryak of Reynoldsburg, OH is requesting prayer for the refunding of USAID by the federal government.
Updates/Notes of Gratitude
Sr. Kathy Broussard (New Orleans, LA, kathy.broussard@oppeace.org) is grateful for prayer said for Matthew, a client who was facing the death penalty. She says the CDP team finally worked out a Contract for Life for him 11 days before his trial was set to start on July 21st and that happening was nothing short a miracle. She asks for prayer for another client going to trial in October and for our team, adding that there is tremendous stress for both the client and the team.
