Peace & Justice Update
Catholic Mobilizing Network Program
In 2019, the Dominican Sisters of Peace adopted a Corporate Stance to end the death penalty.
The Catholic Mobilizing Network will be hosting a special Lenten Conversation in Communion next month, Implementing the Synod on Synodality, that offers participants an opportunity to prayerfully reflect on how to embody this Jubilee of Hope in our life, our communities, and our society.
Please click here for more information on this and other programs from the Catholic Mobilizing Network to focus our efforts and advocacy on ending the death penalty.
Events
Mass for a new Archbishop
On Tuesday, Sister Teresita Lipar and Sister Rita Birzer attended the Installation Mass of the Archbishop of Detroit, Edward J. Weisenburger.
The festive Mass took place in Detroit at a fully packed Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Archbishop Weisenberger served most recently as the bishop of Tucson, Arizona.
He was welcomed by the outgoing Archbishop, Allen H. Vigneron, Archbishop Emeritus of Detroit.
A reception followed at the seminary where Sisters Teresita and Rita spoke with him. Please click here to see a picture of our Sisters with Archbishop Weisenburger.
Kentucky Celebrates St. Patrick
The Sisters at the St. Catharine Motherhouse "took a trip to the Emerald Isle" without leaving home to commemorate St. Patrick's Day.
Thanks to local leprechaun and Activities Director Danielle Nation for hosting the event and thank you to Sr. Mary Costello and Associate Donna Medley for the pictures and video of the gathering. Please click here to view.
Donna also offers some Irish poetry (if you need just a wee bit more fun...)
Tis Monday it is, O March seventeen.
Everywhere you look you could see green.
One might have seen a Leprechaun
and bright sunshine out on the lawn.
Oh, what a day of laughter and fun.
When the game was over, and leprechauns were done.
Out came Crème de Menthe and vanilla ice cream
to continue with the St. Patrick’s Day theme!
Though no pot of gold was to be found
The Irish and friends were happy all around!
