From Sr. Pat Twohill, Prioress
Dear Sisters and Associates,
Today we received word about the recent attack on Dominican Sisters in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Fortunately, they are all okay, but terribly traumatized. Please hold them in prayer.
We will assist in some way as soon as we get more direction from Sr. Margaret Mayce at DSIC. Please click here for a letter that explains the situation.

Peace & Justice Update
Justice Gathering Draws a Crowd
Almost 100 women and men from across the country gathered at the MDP Center for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious Justice Promoters in Columbus this week.
Participants drew from their many years of experience to tackle very important issues. Topics were addressed on both a global and national level and included "Embracing the Spirituality of Integral Ecology" and "Implications of the Doctrine of Discovery and Integration."
Sr. Gemma Doll served on the planning committee for this important meeting. Many thanks to MDP Director Yahaira Rose, the creative kitchen staff and Activities Director Gaye Riessland who helped make this gathering a success. Please see a few photos here.
Focusing on Death Penalty Issue
This week, Sisters in Columbus heard from Sr. Eileen Reilly, SSND who spoke about the Death Penalty and shared a story of dignity with them.
Brian, a member of the NIA Men's Chorus at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution, was so moved by singing for those on death row last Christmas that he wrote "Redemption Way."
With lyrics like “every man has dignity, every man has a soul, we see you, we hear you,” the composer wanted to restore humanity to those living on death row as a place of redemption.
The song premiered at the Catholic Mobilizing Network's First Friday Prayer Vigil January gathering. Please click here to view the performance. Please see an image of Sr. Eileen by clicking here.

Updates/Notes of Gratitude
Sr. Gemma Doll (Columbus, OH, gemma.doll@oppeace.org) sends thanks for the inspiring and loving messages she received as she celebrated the life of her mother. Everyone's words, hugs, and calls have helped her during the roughest times and encouraged her to keep remembering the gift her mother was to so many.
