Death of an Associate
Sharon Reed, OPA
Our Sisters and Associates in central Ohio continue to mourn the loss of Associate Sharon Reed, who passed away October 29 following a heart attack the previous week. Sharon’s incredible ministry journey spanned more than 40 years, touching lives through education, youth ministry, spiritual direction, and counseling. In addition to her private counseling practice, Sharon was a professional counselor at the Pontifical College Josephinum and Ohio Dominican University, where she served in multiple capacities, including Dean of Student Life and Vice President for Student Development. In 2021, upon her retirement from ODU, her remarkable 20 years of service and advocacy for students were commemorated with the creation of The Sharon L. Reed Endowment Scholarship Fund. Sharon held a BS in Education from the University of Dayton and a Master’s in Counselor Education from Cleveland State University. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to boards and organizations that reflected her values, focusing especially on empowering underserved women and youth.
Funeral arrangements will be shared as soon as her obituary is published. We ask that you hold Sharon, her friends, and all her loved ones close in your prayers.

Updates/Notes of Gratitude
- Sr. Renee Dreiling (Great Bend, KS, renee.dreiling@oppeace.org) is grateful for prayer for her brother John. The doctor reports his heart is doing well after surgery and no stints were inserted today. Sr. Renee believes this is a miracle.
- Associate Cecilia Jarmer (Pratt, KS, ceciliamarie@gmail.com) sends thanks for prayer for her son John who had a "widow maker" heart attack. John's EKG was last seen as good and rehab will start soon. Please continue to offer prayer for the long road ahead.
- Sr. Jean Goering (Great Bend, KS, jean.goering@oppeace.org) sends belated thanks to all who remembered her and her family through the kind expressions of sympathy, prayers, Mass offerings, calls, and emails. Please continue prayer for her sister-in-law, Jane. She and Tom had a wonderful relationship and Jane's parents and only sibling are deceased. Her brother, Jim, and his wife have now invited the entire clan to a gathering in Sr. Jean's hometown during Thanksgiving weekend.
